I've made a lot of great friends along the way.
I think it's time to
CELEBRATE!
And what better way to celebrate than with
PRESENTS!
I have ice-dyed
FIVE fat quarters. . .
 . . . which I am giving away to
FIVE Lucky readers!

leave a comment (with your email address!) telling me about your favorite dyeing method, even if you haven't done it yet, before midnight PST, Monday, September 30th.
It's that easy!
I will draw FIVE winners on Tuesday, October 1st
and post the winners on the blog.

I tie-dyed a T-shirt about thirty years ago. Does that count?

Congratulations! Right now my favorite is rust dyeing. Sweetie finds all kinds of wonderful rusty crap on his walks in the hills.
CONGRATS!
those are lovely ice dyed fabrics...can't pick a favorite: I love them all!!!

My favorite dyeing method involves some of my quilty friends gathering and providing all the supplies and I just show up and play! Congrats Lisa!!

Congrats on your blogiversary! To be perfectly honest, my favorite method of dying fabric is to let someone else who's good at it do it. I'm terrific with a credit card. All fun aside, I like the effects of ice or snow dying best. Nancy Turbitt

Congratulations! I love ice dyeing so much that I even bought a gutter especially for this purpose :-)

I love the first and third dyed pieces. Lynda H. taught me to marble fabric and I love the outcome with that method.

Shibori indigo dyeing is my new favorite, followed by marbling. Hoping to ice dye with Lynda soon!

I admire your five years of blogging, it's a great achievement.

I've done snow dyeing, but never ice dyeing -- your results are great!

Congrats, Lisa. I really enjoy your postings. And you know I live to dye! Right now I'm enjoying "spilled" dyes and watching the colors separate.

Your fabric is breathtaking. I have dyed a fair amount of gradations over the years. My problem is that I don't have a good place to dye, so I seldom work up the nerve to do it in my new kitchen with granite counters. I would LOVE to dye more and have never gotten the results you have.

Happy Bogoversary!!!! Thanks for 5 years of fun, inspiration, and gorgeous photos. I love to dye with indigo. I never tire of the magic that occurs as the oxygen hits the cloth and it transforms from green to blue. I think I love stitch resist the best for effect, but being lazy, pole wrap always brings a smile to my face. Gorgeous fabrics! I hope we get snow (and I am home) to give snow dyeing a try this year. (I know I could use ice, but it doesn't seem as much fun. The thought of dye colored snow cones makes me smile.)

Super dyed pieces. I love all types of dying methods and have only recently had a go at ice dying- such fun and a great interesting mix of colours and patterns that are created.
Best wishes Sally in the UK.

Oh yes, dyeing with friends is the ultimate!
I like the serendipity of snow and ice dyeing, but have recently been exploring shibori and find its possibilities limitless.

I've wanted to try rust dyeing.
I did tie-dye yrs. ago and it was fun.
Your ice dyeing is wonderful, I love the two pieces with green, just so bright and alive.
I also plan on trying koolaid, I have some fingering weight Merino wool that I want to dye.

I have only tried two dying techniques and would love to try more.
Congratulations on five years of blogging! I started three years ago and love it. My favorite dying method that I've tried is doing it in the microwave.

I have only ever done tie dying with my son, but using ice sounds so cool!

Amazing how ice dying looks like ice.. I will have to try it. My favorite dying is probably using beets to dye peeled eggs.. you get a bright beet pink with that yellow yolk, and it is really a happy combo.

These fabrics are beautiful! I have never tried dyeing but the snow dyeing looks like fun.

Happy blogiversary, Lisa! It's been a while since I've dyed, but I used to like crunching up fabric into a small container with the soda ash and dye mixture. Always surprise results.
Kathy said…
Way to go, Lisa! The ice dyeing is gorgeous--better results than anything I've tried. The favorite style for me is scrunch and throw in a bag...lazy dyeing!

Fabulous fabric... and how amazing the patterning.
I love to FLAT DYE using a pour and blend method introduced in Quilting Arts Mag... have had great success and love the ombre look. You could never buy the blends anywhere and have to create the colourways as you move the dyes into each other and control the concentration. Definitely set my new quilts aside from others I have seen/created in the past.

I've been natural dyeing recently with walnut hulls and shibori clamping. It's very addictive! I'm looking forward to ice- dyeing....you've inspired me.
I like rainbow dying. Blows my mind to get all those lovely colours from 3 basics.

I love your colors, Congratulations on 5 years. I need to think about giving something away also, one of these days. Yes, would love some ice dyed fabric, I love how yours is blending. I want to try rust dyeing, just have not set it up yet..
thank you, vivianhelena@sti.net

Congrats, Lisa! I enjoy your sharing your adventures and thoughts with us. I've dyed a little, my favorite method being applying directly to silk in layers, so that each layer gets a variation of the design/pattern.

Congratulations on your 5th Blog-aversary, Lisa! Your ice-dyed pieces are lovely and I would enjoy having one grace my studio. Although I have fun with snow dyeing in winter, my favourite method of dyeing is low-water immersion of small pieces (fat quarter sized) in zip-lock bags. I do lots of landscapes, and seem to get the best skies that way!

May you have many more happy years of blogging ahead of you!

I keep saying I'm going to do some dyeing but seem to have too much to do. I do love your ice dyeing and intend to play with next spring at Focus on Fiber Florida Style in Florida. www.focusonfiberfloridastyle.com

These are beautiful. I love the look of ice dyeing and have to try it.

I think I like to snow dye better than dyeing in the hot summers. Watching the color filter through the snow crystals, and seeing the results are well worth the wait.

Congratulations!!
I've done a little procion dyeing and I'd love to try indigo!!

Hi
My favourite is tray dyeing using the method of Leslie Morgan and Claire Benn. I'd love to try ice dyeing. Will do as soon as I get "my act together". Thanks for showing your lovely fabrics and offering for a prize!

Congrats on your 5th anniversary. You've inspired me to try ice dying, even though it has to be left in the jar for 24 hours. I have done seta color leaves and rit dye mixed with alcohol. I think I'll like ice dying the most after looking at the good results that you have.
Sandy said…
until recently I could only get good results if I bought it from someone else!
But I had a day with a friend who gets good colour. she helped with the maths. I need to have a go on my own now to follow that up.
