Summer Fun

At the beginning of summer I posted about my goals for summer, and now summer is almost over and man what a summer it has been. Amazingly we've almost done everything on my list. I've blogged about a lot of those adventures along the way, but here are a few fun activities I missed blogging about.

We toured the Oquirrh Mountain Temple -

Visited with friends we knew while we lived in Jamaica -

Took my Mother-In-Law to Fisherman's Wharf -
This video clip of visiting the Sea Lions at Fisherman's Wharf makes me laugh.


Met my Sistah's new doggie, Wes -

And had some fun with Wrigley, Elliot, Wes and Dexter (not pictured)

Went to the Farmers Market on a chilly San Francisco Day -

Played in the ocean -Ate some funnel cake (excuse me while I wipe the drool off my computer) -
And rode some fun rides.

This picture is my absolute favorite of the summer: Bright colors, blue skies and happy children.

Sounds like you've been having a ton of fun. I love all of the pictures, but I must admit that the last one of the girls is my favorite as well.

Wow! I didn't realize that your summer has been so busy...and that you have had soooo much fun! I see you guys come and go but I didn't know that you have been living it up! I love that last picture, it looks like it should go on the cover of a magazine.

Here's the Gelli Plate Tutorial you asked for! My Gelli plate has been well used and well loved. 1. Place Gelli Plate on a flat, covered working surface, and place small dots of paint onto the plate.  My demo photos are with me using acrylics and paper but it works exactly the same with fabric paint and fabric.  I like using Jacquard Textile paint when I make fabric prints. 2. Use a brayer to spread the paint evenly across the plate. 3.  I used the leaves as a resist for the first print. 4. Place the paper/fabric on top of the printing plate and smooth it out nicely to get an even print. 5.  Carefully lift up the paper/fabric. Found a photo from when I printed the fabric - see same process. Fabric Printing at Home

My friend, Julie B. Booth , wrote a book on printing fabric with everyday items you find at home and asked if I would be willing to do a review. I have to admit I wondered if there would be anything new to learn in Julie's book.  I am always on the look out for fun, new things to try.  New "What if's" and so I wondered, would this book be a rehash of so many things I have seen in the past?  Would I find a new technique I would be dying to try? I'm delighted to say I did learn something new.  I actually learned several new things that are making my little artist heart go pitter-patter!   Last year Julie taught me to do printing with cardboard tubes.
