Printing and Writing

Image
I decided to make a few pieces for the Amazing Alphabet   Readers Challenge  in  Cloth Paper Scissors  magazine.  The rules are to create an original 4"x 6" mixed media piece of lettering. I broke out my 6"x6" Gelli Plate .  I have used my larger plate a LOT, but haven't had a reason to use my smaller one yet and this seemed like the perfect project for it.  I added some acrylic paints to the plate, some homemade and store bought stencils and printed onto  Strathmore Mixed Media 100 lb paper .   I really should have cut more paper!   The pieces print up so quickly and I really enjoy adding extra layers.   I find mono-printing so relaxing. I don't have any photos of the process because I was having too much fun and forgot to pull out the camera. Some of the lettering was written directly onto the mono-printed pages and some were written on to white tissue paper and then applied to the mono-print...

I Heart You

Image
I participated in a make-along webinar with Cloth Paper Scissors on Valentines Day and made this beautiful heart in just half an hour. It shouldn't have taken that long but I started out without all my supplies together!  It was so easy to make and looks beautiful too which is an extra bonus.  If you check Cloth Paper Scissor's Facebook page you can see all the beautiful variations people made during the make-along.  I followed the directions almost to a T and therefore mine looks a lot like their sample.  Some people are much more creative than I am. ;)  If you missed out on the webinar and would like to make one for yourself, click here for the instructions! I'm linking up to Nina-Marie's Off the Wall Fridays .  Hop on over and see all the lovely things people are doing these days!

Sunset Swim

Image
I thought about writing something melecholoy about getting old, but decided that would take too long. There is sunshine to enjoy and books to read, so I'll just give a brief explaination and post the pictures of my latest creation and get on with life! I call this "Sunset Swim." I intended a double meaning because the woman is swimming at sunset and she is in the sunset of her life. I think both sunsets are beautiful. I created the piece for a "Life's a Beach" reader's challenge in a magazine called Cloth, Paper, Scissors. Above is the complete piece as photographed on my back lawn (can you tell it's nice and sunny today!) and below is a close up of her swim cap and the sunset. Hope you have a great day! I'm going to go read a book in the sun!
