Mistyfusing Book Pages

Image
You might have noticed I enjoy stamping in an old book.  It is a book I saved from the recycling bin at the main library. It is titled "Principles of the Law of Contracts" published in 1939.  The binding is great and the pages are sturdy but the pages aren't quite thick enough to keep from seeing images printed on the next page.  I decided to  Mistyfuse the pages together.  I thought I would share how easy it is to glue paper together with Mistyfuse. Cut a stack of Mistyfuse just a little smaller than the book pages.  Only one piece of Mistyfuse is needed per pair of pages. Lay the Mistyfuse on the right hand page and cover with a Goddess sheet. Move iron across the page to fuse the Mistyfuse to the page. Be sure to keep moving the iron to fuse evenly. Pull up the corner of the Goddess sheet to make sure the Mistyfuse is adhering. Keep ironing if the Mistyfuse comes up at all. Remove the Goddess sheet once yo...

Quilters Take Manhattan

Image
Quilters Take Manhattan  is a fund raising event for Quilt Alliance.  Quilt Alliance 's mission is to document, preserve and share our American quilting heritage.  Pokey Bolton was the emcee for the day, and the main speaker at the conference was  Sherri Lynn Wood , where she spoke about "Afterlife."  You can read about the fascinating project on her blog  where she took part in a four month residency at the Public Disposal and Recycle Area in San Francisco. Who knew so much could be inspired by going through the dump! The second speaker was  Merikay Waldvogel , who has written several books documenting quilts in the south.  Dr. Carolyn L. Mazloomi  then interviewed quilt artist,  Michael A. Cummings . I really enjoyed Michael's art, and learning more about him.  On Sunday, there were presentations from all of the sponsors.  It was interesting to find out a little bit more about each company, and the people who h...

Double Nickles

Image
I started my birthday in New York by taking a little trip to Victoria Findlay Wolfe's NY Shop. I bought myself some fabrics which I plan on over-dyeing and/or stamping on top of. Later, Iris and I went to Chelsea Market  and  had a lovely time exploring all the shops and getting samples of food.    This green apple sorbet was divine!  Iris, John and I had dinner at the apartment and a cake that got better everyday that week. I was very grateful to spend my birthday with such wonderful people.

Mistyfuse and Brooklyn Model Works

Image
My second day in New York was spent getting blisters on my feet. It was my own fault, as I made the mistake of wearing shoes I had only worn once before. Sigh. Hopefully I have learned my lesson, but I doubt it. Once we finished searching thrift shops for shoes, ties, sunglasses and shirts for a Brooklyn Model Works project, John, Iris and I headed to Brooklyn where  I got the grand tour of Mistyfuse headquarters.  Funny thing is, this is the only photo I took of the entire floor which makes up Mistyfuse !  I really do love the Goddess Sheets . Iris asked me to take some product photos for her so I will share a few of those. John's Brooklyn Model Works  builds 3-D models for advertising, and the entertainment industry. They have built a lot of oversized products which are used in advertising.  These razors and toothbrushes were amazing!  So much detail.  The heads on the electric toothbrushes even worked. They ...

Quilt Market/Festival: Working

Image
The main reason I went to Houston was to work at the Mistyfuse booth. I met a lot of great people at the booth and loved it when you could see light bulbs going off as we showed them the product. I helped a tiny bit with the Artistic Artifacts booth, mostly documenting, and schlepping stuff.  The Mistyfuse booth didn't have to change at all between Market and Festival but the AA booth almost came down entirely, and then was expanded to be three booths wide. And then in the blink of an eye, market and festival were all done! It is amazing how much faster everything comes down than it goes up! Reliving Houston through these posts has almost been as much fun, and as exhausting as being there. I hope you have enjoyed this series of posts, AND the fact that there were posts everyday for a week because Cheryl Sleboda over at Muppin.com has once again issued the challenge to post every day during the month of December and I'm going to do it again!  I'...
