 Murder in the Garden won an Award of Excellence at the Form, Not Function: Biennial Quilt Show. This is the first time I have won an award at a quilt show and I'm thrilled. If you are in the New Albany, Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area before April 12th, then stop in to the Floyd County Carnegie Libary Cultural Arts Center to have a look at all the beautiful fiber art on display! On my way to a family reunion I stopped in Reno to visit with Carol Soderlund.   After a tour of her lovely new home we went to the Wilber D. May Museum to see a beautiful fiber exhibit called New Directions  with work from  artists  Joan Dyer, Denise Oyama Miller, Sandra Poteet, Lin Schiffner, Linda Waddle, and Martha Wolfe. Carol and I in front of Martha Wolfe's Ritsurin pieces. There were many beautiful pieces at the show. Santa Cruz: Hydranga, a bojagi piece by Martha Wolfe especially spoke to me. I love the multiple layers. I feel like bojagi can't be fully appreciated in photos.  Streaming by Joan Dyer. This years Utah Quiltfest quilt show was all Red and White.

Recently my husband and I went to Washington DC to see our oldest daughter graduate with her Master's degree.  Unfortunately, it was a quick trip, but well worth the time to congratulate our daughter on a job well done! I am actually amazed at what we were able to fit in while we were there.  One morning we hopped on the Metro red line out to Rockville, MD, to see the  SAQA  Regional Quilt Show called Tarnish .   I enjoyed seeing quilts made by my fellow SAQA members, many of whom I've come to know online. Shows like this are always so inspiring for me. I've been working but from the looks of my blog it seems more like I've been hiding!  I'm here, working hard on some new pieces for shows and working on submissions for other shows.  My word for the year is ENTER.  I may have written a little about it in the past.  I want to really concentrate on entering my work into some quilt shows this year.  However after zentangling my planner cover I thought that along with the word Enter I should also adopt the phrase Enjoy Every Moment.  So here I am entering and enjoying the year.  Here is a sneak peek at a piece I've been doing: I'd share another sneak peek but I can't find my camera card!!! I've also opened a shop on Spoonflower.  The fabric isn't for sale quite yet but it will be soon!  The fabrics are based upon my hand dyes and my free form piecing.  I'll let you know when you can buy some.  In the meanwhile go over to Spoonflower and order yourself a free swatch TODAY! ...

I had a great time at the Home Machine Quilt Show last week.   The quilts and lectures were inspiring  and the booths were a lot of fun to check out! Here is the Best in Show quilt:  A couple other big prize winners: No prize but I loved this one. I mean what geek doesn't love a Doctor Who Tardis Quilt!  There were a lot of great quilts made by my friends: Lisa Brothman   Anne Munoz   Marie Eldredge     Emily Herrick  and 3rd place winner in the "Utah's Own" category, Karlee Porter . Congratulations Karlee! And my quilt: Fractured Pi  I love looking at group projects like this one from the Mt. Harrison Quilt Guild of the Wilson Theater in Rupert, ID.  The picture was divided into 40 blocks for 40 people and then put together into one fabulous quilt.
