Something About Nothing

I started this piece in January, during a class with Leslie Jenison at Craft Napa. I added more and more to it. But I just wasn't liking it. . . so I ripped it apart. Did you realize your sewing machine foot can make an excellent third hand when you are ripping apart fabrics? Especially when using Havel's Seam Ripper. Sorry this is a bit dark.  Soon it was all just pieces.  And I ended up with a few bits and pieces on me. He thinks he's helping!   These two always seem to be in mix.  I really like the houses which I accidentally made and decided to make lot's more.  And then the houses needed some trees. The progression of one of my trees.  And it's coming along!

I finally finished sewing a quilt top, which I will show in full once it is quilted.  In the meanwhile here is a small taste. Sometimes creating the design for the quilt takes 10 times longer than the actual sewing. So glad that part is done. I will quilt the top once I buy some batting. In the meantime I am playing with my Gelli Plate in preparation for my debut as a guest blogger over on And Then We Set It On Fire. I've been busy cutting new stencils on my Silhouette. It almost looks like one of these puppies had a cut on their paw with that red in there.  Poor puppy! I hope all of you are well in your part of the world.  There was so much devastation in Oklahoma this week.   I am amazed at the destruction wind and rain can create. One of my friends was in OK on business and posted photos of his 40 co-workers watching the storm on a laptop as they waited out the storm in a men's restroom.  Thankfully he and his co-workers are just fine but I know that many are not. My heart and prayers go out to each of them. Please consider making a donation to the  Red Cross   or your favorite charity to help the people of Moore, OK. Here in my world it is time for working before a long weekend. Why do deadlines sneak up on me like they do?!? Sheesh. One down, many more to go. I finished working on a project to teach how to make free form blocks  like the one in my Fractured Pi quilt.  Glad that is done. I will need to rewrite the pattern from my notes  but the big work is done. Whew!...

It was so nice to just make a regular block today. An Anvil block from the 15 Minutes to Play blog by Victoria Findley Wolfe But as much fun as I had making this quick and easy block (and I think it took me 30 minutes, not 15 - seems to be a trend for me),   I'm glad I only needed to make one . I get so bored making multiple blocks of the same thing. I think I have quilt block a.d.d. Maybe you would like to help Victoria out and make one as well.   Click here to find out why and how.
