Claudia and Snowflake

Image
The two newest critters to join the Whimsy family, Snowflake and Claudia from Melly & Me.

Monkey Business

Image
Last night I taught a class of 5 friends how to make their own Magoo Monkey from Melly & Me. They all did a fabulous job. And 3 of them managed to make Magoo in 4 hours. Oops we'd only planned it as a 3 hour class. Next time this will be a 4 or 4.5 hour class. I love how fun each monkey looks in a different fabric. Next semester I think we will make Claudine. She's a real pussy-cat. ;)

Shop Hopping

Image
The only shop I hopped in was the one I work at: Whimsy Cottage. I worked every day of shop hop and had a lot of fun meeting new people. My girls came with me to work the first day and helped out by stamping peoples passports. They are so good at entertaining themselves as well as others! Although I'm not sure Em looks so excited in this photo! We finally received a big shipment of Wool we'd been waiting on and it was so nice to have several people in the shop to help process it.  It is so beautiful. And while I was in the shop taking photos I got one of Emotional Anna and her little bat, not that anyone cares. ;) She such a cute, sad little girl. Have you ever attended a Quilt Shop Hop?

Sewing

Image
I've been sewing a lot lately - store samples mostly - just haven't taken many photos. This cute little dress is a Tina Givens pattern called "Little Goddess." Cute dress but the 2/3 size has a small neck, one that would probably not fit over a child's head.  If I make this again as a gift it will need an expanded neck hole. I also made this cute pattern for the shop but didn't take a photo.  Oops.

Fun Projects

Image
Other than keeping up with children, dishes, laundry and garden (which the rain has been taking care of) I've been a little busy making some fun projects. This little gal is Clucky and her brood from Melly & Me . She is a plucky little gal with her hands full (er I mean wings) of four little ones. She's a hard working mother and is already teaching her children the finer points of music. And since Black Sheep was "born" at the same time she has also taken him under her wing at the piano. I finally finished the circle quilt I have been working on for my oldest daughter. It only took me 6 months. Unfortunately this quilt got pushed to the back burner more than once and then the sewing machine I quilt with jammed up and I haven't had it repaired yet. I took the quilt to my friend Juliette's house and quilted it with her fabulous Bernina Aurora 440 QE machine . I didn't quilt anything fancy as I was just wanting to get it done (Sorry B) but I do...

Christmas, already?

Image
Are you thinking about Christmas yet? I made this perfect little Petunia Pig (pattern by Melly & Me ) for Whimsy the other day and decided to get her ready for Christmas because the Christmas fabrics have started arriving. That's right, if you want to avoid the "oh my, it's two minutes until Christmas and I haven't made the (fill in name of project here) for (fill in name of favored person here) yet!!!" then you had better get busy. NOW!
