Springville Trunk Show

The Springville Museum of Art  has hosted a Utah quilt show for 42 years now.  The show is always filled with beautiful pieces.  My friend, Anne Munoz, won a ribbon for her beautiful piece.  This is Anne's other entry into the show.  I love this quilt made by Ruth Ewers.  Ruth is a wonderful quilter and always so generous with her knowledge.  She has taught me a lot.  Nan Sturgell's beautiful quilt took a ribbon as well.  Nan's quilting is always perfect in my eyes, and obviously the judges agree! My friend, Sylvia Lewis, pictured here with her two quilts, has been a wonderful mentor for me.  She has pushed me to do things I wouldn't have thought about doing otherwise. This is my Moonlight piece made from Gelli® printed pieces of fabric. I was invited to present a trunk show at the museum this year. The crowds are always large.   They had to bring in a few more rows of chairs before we got started. My ...

I had a few deadlines this week which have kept me from posting! First project up was to finish a second quilt for the Springville Museum of Art Quilt Show . When I came back to the quilt the next day, it yelled "YES! YES! GET RID OF SOME BLACK!"   So I ruthlessly took the rotary cutter and chopped out the black bits I'd chalked in and then finished it with a facing, a sleeve and a label all before midnight the night before the deadline!   Whew! But then I forgot to ...

Springville Trunk Show

Springville Art Museum has a wonderful quilt show every year.   In conjunction with the quilt show they invite a few local quilters to present a trunk show.   My friends Florence and Sylvia were two of the quilters featured this year.  I was having difficulty figuring out the lighting in the room thus I ended up with only one good photo of Florence and her amazing quilts.  So sorry Florence! Florence is an amazing math wiz.   She teaches a class on quilting math and makes it all so understandable.   Her quilts are always perfection. She was my first domestic machine walking foot quilting teacher.  Sylvia brought her first quilt to show where she started.  Pretty amazing for a first quilt I think. All the corners match and she didn't have a pattern! Almost every other close up I took of Sylvia, she has her eyes closed. We had a full house!  That light on the left made photographing a real pain. ...
