Mini Book Class

Image
FYI: In an attempt to catch up the blog with the last year AND stay up to date, I'll be attempting two short posts a week. One that will show what I am currently working on, and one that will be back dated. Hope it doesn't confuse anyone too much  (myself included!) Took a live online Mini Book class with Seth Apter through Facebook. Monoprinted deli sheets for collage A Few Words A big mess was made, therefore you know I had fun! Look! Ah, Senor, you have greatly troubled my mind. Do you think me such a child?!? I hunt no animal. Come with me. How divine she was! Mister supervised, as usual.

After the chicken coup got carved, I somehow became obsessed with creating a farm. I carved bunnies, sheep, cows, and a piggy. Then I experimented with different backgrounds. Experimenting with various background styles for my farm. I like this funky background the best right now. Baaa, Bunny, Ewe Moooo Hey Babe. But then I moved on to moonlit backgrounds. Maude likes to take moonlit walks, and dreams of going to space. Moonlit Bunnies I mailed a number of cards out to friends who requested one by messaging me on Instagram. Envelopes ready to mail off farm cards. Of course I couldn't send them in plain envelopes!  Birdie was elected Air Mail Captain. I should have carved them a hat!

A few years ago I took a class from Victoria Findlay Wolfe called Thunderstruck . One of my bucket list quilts was to make a star quilt, so of course I jumped on the chance to take this class at Craft Napa. Victoria taught how to piece Y-seams, and she made them so easy! I only finished a fourth of the quilt at Craft Napa . After putting it aside for months, I finally finished the piecing. The best part was that Victoria's instructions were so easy to follow that finishing the piecing was a breeze. I then set to hand quilting it with 12 weight thread from Wonderfil . This took a lot longer than it should as it kept getting put aside. I found it in a pile during quarantine and determined to finish it! Some of the

I collaborated with Jane Dunnewold to make some of my hand carved stamps in to Thermofax screens which are now available to anyone to purchase! There are 19 designs which can be ordered in either the 5"x7" or 8"x10" sizes.  Click on this link to order!   I played with a few of the designs and made some fabrics. I then used a couple of these fabrics to make some zippered bags. I really enjoy using thermofax screens and paint on fabric. They make screen printing so easy.

While brainstorming on ideas for new classes, I created a keepsake journal using collaged fabrics, hand embroidery, and beautiful charms. I originally named it Cherished Treasures, but I also like the name Charming Pockets. Who knows what it will end up becoming in the end. I LOVE these embellishments sold by Gwen LaFleur . The Turkmen Jewelry parts , as well as other bits and bobs of embellishments , I purchased from Gwen LaFleur were the perfect finishing touches on these pockets. Each pocket was embroidered, and given a special closing. Creating this piece led to a pandemic overspending on more bits and bobs from Fire Mountain Gems.  I now have a ton of beads, buttons and charms. I should get working!
