Something About Nothing

So, I feel like I have been in hibernation or something.  Not exactly sure what has kept me from posting - other than having a sinus infection for months that I didn't realize was a sinus infection until I got on antibiotics and now I'm feeling a bit better!  Well then there was the months of driving around trying to find one of the college daughters an apartment in her new college town.  And once the apartment was found there was the furnishing of the apartment, thanks to generous friends and thrift stores, and of course the moving of all these things plus the stuff she already owned.  Exhausting. Anyway, I'm back!  I hope! I have been so tired lately! Too many late nights arting. I thought I better take a minute to blog a quick update on what I've been doing in all those late night party sessions.  First off, I am working on an online class for the Fiber Arts Connection .  So far the class is titled: Hand Carving Stamps for Fabric Design.  We'll see how that title holds up. In the class I will teach how to carve a stamp, how to use it to create your own fabric, and then how to use that fabric in a project.  With that in mind - what would you want to learn in this class?  What type of stamp would you want to make?  What kind of project would you want to make? Lots of exciting news last week! The Quilting Arts TV DVD, Series 1700 ,  arrived as well as the Feb/March 2016 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine .   I have two episodes on the DVD which were filmed back in September. . .  . . . and an article in the magazine! Both of these dreams can now be checked off my bucket list. I love teaching and am very excited to share my knowledge about cutting stencils and sun printing. I have so many photos of my adventure to Quilting Arts TV that I decided to break it up into several posts. I hope you don't mind!  I had a fabulous time, especially once I completed my three segments and got past the nervousness. Everyone at KS Productions , where the show is filmed, was fantastic!  Everyone there really goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed.  I really hated to leave.   Well, enough of my gabbing - on to the photos! The adventure began when I took a train. . .  . . .plane. . .  . . .and fancy schmancy automobile to KS Productions in Solon, Ohio. I drove straight to the studio from the airport. I had to get my things organized for filming the next day.   Laura Wasilowski and Frieda Anderson   were getting ready to film with host, Susan Brubaker Knapp , when I arrived. My biggest problem in creating quilts - art or traditional - is trying to figure out what to quilt.  I am having this trouble right now with a project so I grabbed my Press'n Seal  and ripped off a piece to practice a few designs.   The Press'n Seal sticks to the fabric, and is easily removed as well.  Using a Sharpie marker, I'm trying out several ideas.  I can be as messy as I like and try several designs over the top of each other.  I've practiced on 4 or 5 pieces so far. And although I'm still not sure what I will quilt, this practicing has given me some ideas that I can now sleep on.  Hopefully I can finish the piece tomorrow and take it with me when I film on Quilting Arts TV next week.
