Positive Prayer Flag Swap

Image
I participated in a Positive Prayer Flag Swap hosted by Lynn Krawczyk at Smudged Design Studio .  I am so excited to share the beautiful flags I received. I finally found the right place for them to hang outside. This little corner looked sad with the rusted telephone thingy, but now it looks happy. I can't decide if I should paint the post, or leave it as is.   The rust color is quiet lovely. Maybe it needs a face.

Monogram Stamp

Image
My friend, Jenn, is getting married soon. I'm so happy for her!  I decided to create a Monogram stamp for her and her man.   After searching for just the right fonts and style, I consulted with my good friend, Anneliese .  She is my go to font person! We decided the bottom design was best.  Jenn was excited with the final product when I delivered it to her today.  I love giving art gifts to people I know will enjoy it.

Spring Clean Your Studio Blog Hop 2017

Image
I love doing these spring clean your studio blog-hops because they force me to organize a little at least once a year. This year's clean up has been very hard. I have not felt very motivated. I've had one child moving out and another child moving in over the past month and their stuff has been all over the house.  This weekend I decided I had to do something about the messes everywhere.  I honestly should have videoed my entire house before and after I cleaned and moved furniture and used that as my post!  Hubby was out doing the yard work while I cleaned.  The girls were gone and I was very happy about that.  It is so much easier sometimes to just do things all by myself. Hubby did, however, help out in the afternoon and I was grateful for his help with the heavy stuff!  So, after all that work, I was exhausted and exhilarated! It felt great to have everything back in order.   Then today, I came in to the studio.   Oh MY! My ever faithful supervisor plunked in the m

Fishes

The messes of my studio have not prevented me from wanting to create! When I can't motivate myself to clean, I simply push aside a few things and start working. Mister decided he needed to supervise. He is very helpful like that! A while back I drew some fish and I've been wanting to carve them. Fishy #1. And Fishy #2 Fishy #2 was feeling a little shy and needed some seaweed to hide in, so of course, I obliged them and carved some. These didn't take long, and they make me feel happy! Tomorrow will be the big reveal of my Spring Studio Clean Up. There will be a big surprise so be sure to stop by.

Idea Museum

Image
While in Arizona last week we took the grandkids to the Idea Museum . There was a fun Superhero exhibit going on, which was perfect for our superhero obsessed grandchild!  He wasn't as interested in drawing his own comic, or creating much of anything, but he loved the puppet theater, and the green screen with rotating backgrounds.   We spent a lot of time throwing rocks and logs at him while he watched himself fly through the air, or jump off a building.  Loads of fun!  And before someone reports us, the rocks and logs were pillows! Personally I loved the superhero artwork they had on the walls, and thought I would share a few of them here: Four, by Geoffrey Gersten . I found these four pieces very fun to look at. They were all created by Josh Ln. And lastly, these fantastic watercolors by Clementine.

Fabric, Dyes and Books, OH MY!

Image
I've received some exciting mail over the past few weeks. First up 100 meters of 419 PFD from Test Fabrics. Only 75 meters of it is mine, but still fun to think of all the dyeing I can do with this. And. . . if you give a dyer some fabric, she needs more dyes ! And why not a few totes to dye and print as well. I dyed a few bags to show the Weaver's Guild what I will be teaching them at their June meeting.  I'll post photos of these finished products once I get them back. I finally order Spoonflower's handbook. I am still devouring the words.   Lots of good information to help me create better digital fabrics. And last, but certainly not least, I finally got my copy of Lynn Krawczyk' s new book!!!! I pre-ordered it back in November! I hate waiting!  But it was worth the wait.  So pretty, and lots of good information and projects.   I'll be doing a more thorough review in a few weeks.

Dizzing Work

Image
My mind is spinning with all the things I've managed to put my fingers in lately!  The blog quickly became my lowest priority. Sorry about that. Here's a catch up post with the hopes that I stay on top of things here better! I've spent much of the last month driving umpteen million hours to a small town north of me in search of an apartment for my youngest daughter. We've had some lovely chats, and lots of fun pointing out all the animals, and colorful homes we saw along the way.  The scenery was always wonderful! Some of the days we went up the weather was perfect, some days, not so much. But apartment shopping did not help much when I had so much work to get done! Amazingly, I did manage to finish and submit two pieces for the Threads of Resistance exhibit. "Power" on the left and "Breaking Through" on the right. I also submitted some classes to teach at Craft Napa and Art and Soul.   I don't know when I will h
