The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Image
I had a fabulous idea to create a beautiful card for my friend from a Gelli Print. I kept putting it off and putting it off and then Cloth Paper Scissors posted a card tutorial by  Tammy Northrup that I fell in love with!  Follow the link above to see what I had in mind. I thought that rather than flicking paint at a blank piece of card stock, I would start out by stamping some color with my 3"x5" Gelli Plate.  This was very pretty. I wanted the bottom to be a green or yellow so I brayered a bit of yellow at the bottom so that I could splatter green over the top for the grass and flowers.  This wasn't so pretty.  I had a hard time splattering until I found the right paint brush to get my splatters just right.  Once I did the method worked perfectly but I was tired and it was taking awhile to cover the yellow with the green.  Finally I decided it was time to start over. For my next attempt I laid down a mask.  The dog mask was...

Pet Postcards

Image
Last night I finished up four little puppies for the Festival Pet Postcards at International Quilt Festival I created a stencil outline with a little puppy drawing  and then painted him in with acrylic paints. He is ready to play! Won't someone please take him home and play with him? Two of the postcards have gelli plate prints for their backing: All four will be available for a $20 donation at International Quilt Festival in Houston . I wish I was going to be there in person this year! Is anyone reading this post going to be there?

Scattered and Recovering

Image
I've been a bit scatter brained as of late. "What?  Only lately?" True, I am a scatter brain most of the time but more so lately. Family Stuff mostly. It happens. Throws off my game. But I am trying to reorganize and get busy. I decided it was time to go through some fabrics and destash.  Too much clutter makes me crazier than usual.  I've listed some fabrics in my Etsy store .  I'm going to make some scrap bags too and list them there as well.  I have a lot of fabrics that I just won't use anymore because I am printing and dyeing my own now.  I know there is someone out there who will have a good use for them! And while I am trying hard to organize and get rid of things I have several books that are calling my name!  Life stresses sometimes call for some retail therapy. My friend, Lynn Krawczyk , has written this book that is getting rave reviews! My friend, Lesley Riley , has this book coming out soon!   I lov...

Summer Fun

Image
At the beginning of summer I posted about my goals for summer, and now summer is almost over and man what a summer it has been. Amazingly we've almost done everything on my list. I've blogged about a lot of those adventures along the way, but here are a few fun activities I missed blogging about. We toured the Oquirrh Mountain Temple - Visited with friends we knew while we lived in Jamaica - Took my Mother-In-Law to Fisherman's Wharf - This video clip of visiting the Sea Lions at Fisherman's Wharf makes me laugh. Met my Sistah's new doggie, Wes - And had some fun with Wrigley, Elliot, Wes and Dexter (not pictured) Went to the Farmers Market on a chilly San Francisco Day - Played in the ocean - Ate some funnel cake (excuse me while I wipe the drool off my computer) - And rode some fun rides. This picture is my absolute favorite of the summer: Bright colors, blue skies and happy children.
