Mini Book Class

Image
FYI: In an attempt to catch up the blog with the last year AND stay up to date, I'll be attempting two short posts a week. One that will show what I am currently working on, and one that will be back dated. Hope it doesn't confuse anyone too much  (myself included!) Took a live online Mini Book class with Seth Apter through Facebook. Monoprinted deli sheets for collage A Few Words A big mess was made, therefore you know I had fun! Look! Ah, Senor, you have greatly troubled my mind. Do you think me such a child?!? I hunt no animal. Come with me. How divine she was! Mister supervised, as usual.

Mistyfusing Book Pages

Image
You might have noticed I enjoy stamping in an old book.  It is a book I saved from the recycling bin at the main library. It is titled "Principles of the Law of Contracts" published in 1939.  The binding is great and the pages are sturdy but the pages aren't quite thick enough to keep from seeing images printed on the next page.  I decided to  Mistyfuse the pages together.  I thought I would share how easy it is to glue paper together with Mistyfuse. Move iron across the page to fuse the Mistyfuse to the page. Be sure to keep moving the iron to fuse evenly. Pull up the corner of the Goddess sheet to make sure the Mistyfuse is adhering. Keep ironing if the Mistyfuse comes up at all. Remove the Goddess sheet once yo...

Stamp Book Project

I rescued a very old contracts law book from the recycle bin at the library recently and have decided to use it as a portfolio for my hand carved stamps. I love the way the designs look printed over the words in the book. Mister is always willing to supervise a new project.  These aren't all the stamps,  but I am getting there. Fortunately there is still a lot of room in the book!

Up-cycled Stories: Books as Process

Image
I participated in a workshop called  Up-cycled Stories: Books as Process .     The description of the class said: " Bring a personally challenging story to retell in a new light or a daily routine to reconsider and reframe. With a focus on finding joy and beauty in the everyday, participants stamp out insecurities, recontextualize shortcomings, and re-imagine the self in book form. In this active workshop, employ ink, brushes, stamps, mark-making tools, text, and re-collected common objects to produce process pages. Through a reimagining of the past, reinvent present perspective with an open heart, mind, and eyes toward gratitude and compassion. Instructors demonstrate a binding to be completed post-workshop from produced sheets. Come with a willingness to play with color, shape, narrative, and texture." I had a difficult time coming up with a story.  I just didn't know what I wanted to do.  The night before the class I was frustrated that I couldn't think...
