Sacred Geometry 2 Blog Hop and Giveaway

Image
I'm excited to share these newest stencils from Artistcellar with you:   Sacred Geometry 2 . I love me a good stencil and these are four great stencils. I had fun playing with the stencils in lots of different ways. I could break this post down into three blog posts, but I'll share it all here.  I hope you are ready! I wanted to see if I could create a repeat pattern so I pulled out the notebook and traced: I really liked the way the stencil design looked without all of the spaces traced.   I filled in the shapes with zentangly doodles. This was so relaxing. Next, I had to see if I could make a stamp from on the images.   I have been a little obsessed with stamp making lately.   The image was transferred on to the rubber by patting an ink pad over the stencil: I didn't want to waste the corner so I added another part of the stencil there.   No one said the stamp had to be exactly lik...

Kaleidoscope Blog Hop & Giveaway

Image
I was thrilled to be asked by Artistcellar to participate in  a blog hop promoting  Cecilia Swatton's new line of  Kaleidoscope Stencils .   I LOVE STENCILS! And I know you all do too, so someone is going to win a set of their own.   More details on that below.   Mister loves stencils too. Well honestly he loves anything he can get his paws into! He is such a good model. I started out playing with the stencils in my sketchbook. I tried a little painting, a little doodling, all just to see what kind of project I wanted to use them in. OH!   I just noticed a funny little white seal with fangs and a party hat there on the bottom right of the doodle above! OH, or maybe it is a seagull with a bow tie and party hat?  What do you think? Anyway, I decided that one of the projects I wanted to make was a birthday card for my sister-in-law.  I took a piece of sketchbook paper which I had added color to with my...

Marked Giveaway

Image
I am very excited to have been asked to help introduce my friend Lynn Krawczyk as Artistcellar's newest Signature Series Artist!  I was given a set of her new stencils, Marked , to play with.  I will also be giving away a set of this lovely stencil set!  More on that later. I love playing with stencils and decided I would use Lynn's stencils to create mono-prints with my Gelli Plate, which I would then use to make ATC's (artist trading cards). However, before the paint even touched the stencils I used them to create a few masks.  A little tracing, and a little cutting, gave me these fun pieces from her Tracks stencil. Oh wouldn't these make lovely railroad tracks, or zipper tracks?! Anyway, unfortunately once I get going with monoprinting I forget all about taking photos!  I should have video taped myself!  You can view a video I made of my multi-layer technique here.  I don't bother cleaning my stencils inbetween creating th...
