Tarnish
Recently my husband and I went to Washington DC to see our oldest daughter graduate with her Master's degree. Unfortunately, it was a quick trip, but well worth the time to congratulate our daughter on a job well done!
I am actually amazed at what we were able to fit in while we were there. One morning we hopped on the Metro red line out to Rockville, MD, to see the SAQA Regional Quilt Show called Tarnish.
I enjoyed seeing quilts made by my fellow SAQA members, many of whom I've come to know online. Shows like this are always so inspiring for me.
Here are just a few of my favorite pieces:
Echo's of the Past by Sandy Curran
Ten of Cups by Lesley Riley
Dominate by Kristin La Flamme
Past is Present (left) and Future is in the Water (right) by Linda Colsh
Winter's Tarnish by Diane Rusin Dorin
Tarnish will continue until June 1st so if you are in the DC area, you should take a little trip out to visit. It is a very easy 10 minute walk to VisArts once you get off the metro.
The exhibit is on the 2nd floor and VisArts is not open until noon, so plan accordingly. Fortunately there is a lovely library and lots of shops surrounding the gallery - just in case you arrive before they open. ;)
