Pandemic Style

The Covid-19 Pandemic meant isolation.
Many people turned to Zoom to meet for work and socializing. The Art Cloth Mastery class I am taking with Jane Dunnewold, started a weekly zoom meeting to stay in touch, and to continue with our lessons.

Having this community of like minded artists has made a big difference in my life.
Another of our weekly meetings.

Another big change in life has been the wearing of masks, and lots of hand washing. Many people have been opposed to wearing a mask. They felt it invaded their civil liberties. I feel it's just the right thing to do to protect myself and others.

I started making masks back in March but I soon found a pattern I liked to make best, and so I have been making a lot of masks. Mostly for my family, but also a few friends too.

Batik fabric has a dense thread count but is still breathable.

One of my daughters requested masks of cute cartoon characters.
My daughter-in-law's mother is a nurse and wanted masks with nursing/medical images.

I ordered this elastic late one night back in March,
it finally arrived in July. It had to take a barge from China to get to me.

I also ordered elastic from a couple of other companies.
I now have enough elastic for the next pandemic as well!

My youngest daughter will be getting married in September, so she made herself a special mask.

My biggest pet peeve about masks is when people only wear them to cover their mouth, not their nose. Yes, masks can be uncomfortable, especially if you have bad breath, but please cover your nose! It's not doing you or me any favors to still be breathing your germs everywhere!
Black Panther mask!

Crazy Covid hair!
