I hope these will inspire you as much as they do me!

Our Little Visitor

Image
These two believe they rule the house. . . and now we have a guest who has invaded their domain. He just wants them to play with him, but they refuse to give him the time of day. How can they be so cruel to such a sweet looking little boy? Don't worry kids, Jack is only here for a week and then the house will be yours again. In the meantime, try hard not to scratch our guest.

More Photo Booth Photos

Image
I want to know why my Mom didn't make me take my hat off. . . Hat hair perhaps? Yes, best that the hat was left on. I probably had a classic Einstein do under there. Althought it was a pretty groovy brown and white hat, and so it is very possible that I insisted on wearing the hat to preserve it's memory for all eternity. . . I'm sure that is why I am wearing the hat. Here is the Lisa shot. Lisa Kay and Lisa Marie. My Mom used our middle names when Lisa came over to play. I remember dancing in her attic singing "The Night Chicago Died" at the top of our lungs. Ah, good times. But then she moved and we lost touch. Very sad. Does she look familiar to anyone? And finally the best photo of all. . . the classic, "Blinked at the flash shot." What would a photo booth be without at least one of these?! P.S. A last minute addition. I took my two youngest to an amusement park on Saturday AND we found a photobooth! However the cost of the photos were $5 each, and...

Christmas, already?

Image
Are you thinking about Christmas yet? I made this perfect little Petunia Pig (pattern by Melly & Me ) for Whimsy the other day and decided to get her ready for Christmas because the Christmas fabrics have started arriving. That's right, if you want to avoid the "oh my, it's two minutes until Christmas and I haven't made the (fill in name of project here) for (fill in name of favored person here) yet!!!" then you had better get busy. NOW!

Making stamps with Glue

Image
Last week I blogged about following a video prompt on the Quilting Arts website. First I doodled then I made a stamp using precut craft foam. This was a lot of fun and I am determined to play with this idea more, but in the meanwhile there was another technique to try. This week I made a stamp using glue. Using a piece of corrugated cardboard I ripped off of a box, I first sealed the cardboard by applying a layer of glue to the entire piece. Then after copying a couple of my doodles onto the cardboard I used a thick white glue on the left hand squiggles and a hot glue gun on the right hand lines. The white glue hasn't completely dried in this picture. It is clear once it dries. I then stamped onto the same fabric I used for the craft foam stamp as I still had a couple of empty places on the fat quarter. I really like the lines you can get with both kinds of glue stamps, but I think I will play more with the hot glue as it drys quicker and I can be so impatient sometimes...

Lagoon

Image
The grade school Band leader gave out discounted tickets for Lagoon , a local amusement park, which were only good this past Saturday. Lagoon is actually quite a large park and is quite entertaining if you are into that kind of thing. I suppose there was a time when I enjoyed amusement parks, but with each passing year I have found that rides just make me sick to my stomach. As a result the whole idea has lost it's appeal for me. As a result my younger children have not had the outings their older siblings had (although I am sure the older ones would beg to differ). When the tickets came home, I tried to think of everything I could to get out of the excursion - "I think I'm busy that Saturday. I may have to work." I didn't have to. "It's too expensive." They saved and pulled the money together to pay their own way. "It's going to rain." It didn't. It was a beautiful day. "I don't really want to go." But Mom you hav...

Following Along. . .

Image
I decided to be a follower. This isn't something new really, I follow a lot. . .my children, my husband, my cats, magazines, blogs, facebook, twitter. Perhaps I should lead a bit more, but for now I am content to follow and play. My latest following is of Video Prompts from artist/author Melanie Testa over at Quilting Arts Magazine/TV/website. Melanie wrote a book called Inspired to Quilt: Creative Experiments in Art Quilt Imagery . In her blog, Melanie, has asked her readers to come and play along with the ideas she explores in her new book. Our first play prompt is to doodle and then based upon those doodles, make a craft foam stamp and a glue stamp. I have doodled: And based upon these doodles I am making stamps. I decided to use some foam stickers I have left over from another project for my first stamp. Aren't they the cutest little things? But I'm only going to use the egg shaped stickers. I found a wood flooring sample at home depot and decided it would be a per...
