Carving with Melly and Peach

Image
Had a playdate with my friend Melanie Testa  and her kitty, Peach. I wanted to introduce Melly to my favorite carving material, Eco Karve , and my favorite fabric paint, Artistic Artifact fluid textile paint.   Eco Karve is so easy to carve, and I love that it is recycled rubber.  Peach needed to make sure she had her time in the spotlight as well.  This is the stamp Melly carved. We used the fabric paint to stamp on some commercial batiks. Artistic Artifact's fluid textile paint stamps so well, and I love the long open time, as well as the softness on the fabric.  It was a very fun day which ended. . . .   . . . with a full rainbow!

Mistyfuse and Brooklyn Model Works

Image
My second day in New York was spent getting blisters on my feet. It was my own fault, as I made the mistake of wearing shoes I had only worn once before. Sigh. Hopefully I have learned my lesson, but I doubt it. Once we finished searching thrift shops for shoes, ties, sunglasses and shirts for a Brooklyn Model Works project, John, Iris and I headed to Brooklyn where  I got the grand tour of Mistyfuse headquarters.  Funny thing is, this is the only photo I took of the entire floor which makes up Mistyfuse !  I really do love the Goddess Sheets . Iris asked me to take some product photos for her so I will share a few of those. John's Brooklyn Model Works  builds 3-D models for advertising, and the entertainment industry. They have built a lot of oversized products which are used in advertising.  These razors and toothbrushes were amazing!  So much detail.  The heads on the electric toothbrushes even worked. They ...

New York on September 11th

Image
I flew in to New York from Boston on September 11th,  the 16th anniversary of the terror attacks. The harbor was buzzing with traffic, and the day was beautiful. That night, from a roof top in Chelsea, I was able to see the side of the Tribute in Light at the World Trade Center, and the beautiful lights at the Empire State Building. It was an awe inspiring view.

Carving in Boston

I took a quick trip to Boston (Fenway Park) . . .  . . .to visit with my friend Cate (middle). . .  . . . and teach her how to carve stamps to use in Gelli printing. Cate had a great time carving her heart out, starting her own Stamp Book Project and printing on fabric with the newly carved stamps. And of course we used my favorite fabric paints from Artistic Artifacts. This is the heart stamp I carved and then added it to my Stamp Book Project.

Abstract Doodling

One of my favorite mindless drawings is to fill shapes with doodles.   I felt like this was a great way to practice drawing on the iPad.

Cow Snacks

I have an idea for a quilt in mind that involves cows, so I drew one on the iPad Pro. No idea when this idea will make it to the top of the pile.

Digital Painting

Playing with simple shapes to practice some digital painting in Procreate. I love how you can save a video of your drawing being created! More work to do.
